Where My New Adventure Began
While I’ve had many adventures in my life so far (dog parks, swimming, hunting for sticks in the backyard, drives out in the country, etc.), none quite compare to the importance of my newest adventure I’m about to embark on.
It was about 2 weeks ago (I know…nearly 4 months in dog years!) when I was sleeping in my bed one afternoon and mom noticed that my sister, Ellie (black Labrador Retriever, Border Collie mix), was standing over me looking down with concern. I don’t remember any of it, but mom tells me that my limbs got super stiff, I was shaking, I had a weird foam coming from my mouth, and I had an accident. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but when I came to, mom was taking me on a trip in the car to the Emergency Vet. Dad rushed to meet us there, and we soon found out that I had a seizure.
Fast forward a week and I got to go on another special, even longer trip in the car! This time we went to this cool new place called UW Veterinary Care. I got to meet so many great new people and they had me take a little nap while they used this fancy machine to take pictures of my brain!
After I felt super well-rested and woke up from my nap, I got to see mom and dad again and hear all about the fancy pictures they took. So, I’m a happy lab and I always think everything and everyone is great, but I could tell mom and dad were pretty scared and upset about what they found. The bad news is that I have a tumor in the front part of my brain and leading partially into my nasal passages. It’s what the docs call a “neoplasia.” We spent a while talking to my cool new friends, and mom and dad took into consideration that I intend to spend many more summer days basking in the sun, and many more bright snowy days eating snow and playing in the yard, and the good news…we came up with an awesome plan!
Not only am I going to be able to come back and visit my new friends often, but they are going to be zapping the brain tumor with radiation. I was still a little sleepy from my nap for the MRI, but mom and dad told me all about my big new adventure when we got home!
So, my big adventure begins very soon! I will be visiting my good friends at UW Veterinary care every week day for 4 weeks, taking short naps in the morning while they use another fancy machine to shrink the brain tumor. I can’t wait to get started, and I know I’ll have so many stories along the way to tell of my new friends visiting me here on the web!
Stay tuned and stay “paw-sitive”!
So sweet he is! I’m very lucky to see him most every day. He’s one of my best fury friends ever!
